Nico reached the Uhuru Peak summit at 11:18 AM

Nico reached the Uhuru Peak summit at 11:18 AM after climbing for more than 10 hours from Kibo Huts camp. He descended safely to Horombo Huts camp in 5 hours.

Carl reached Stella Point (140 meters shy of Uhuru) at 10:30 AM. He developed symptoms of acute AMS (altitude mountain sickness) and was ordered to descend immediately. With the assistance of a guide he descended 1100 meters in 1 hour. He is OK.

Nico and Carl completed the descent and are now at the Kilimanjaro Mountain Resort. Both have wind burned faces and are exhausted but otherwise fine.

Nico wanted to descend with his father, but Carl asked him to complete the climb for the both of them. Carl is disappointed that he could not stand at the summit with Nico but could not be any prouder of him.

Carl gave his cameras to the two guides who climbed with Nico to the summit and pictures will be available when they return.

1 Container, 2 Container . . .

As of today, August 27, Nicolai has raised over $28,000!!! He has filled one container with 550 wheelchairs and is 13% into filling his second. What a great group of friends and supporters have turned out to help make a dream come true for Nicolai, and in the process have given wheels to over 550 Tanzanians who never dared to dream of it. Thank you all!

His mother will be staying in touch with them as best as she can and will deliver any messages that you leave here for them.
